Automated multi-level sub-structuring for fluid-solid interaction problems

چکیده
The Automated Multi-Level Sub-structuring (AMLS) method is a powerful technique to determine a large number of eigenpairs with moderate accuracy of huge symmetric and definite eigenvalue problems in structural analysis. This paper is concerned with an adapted version of AMLS for eigenfrequency analysis of fluid-solid interaction systems. Although fluid-solid vibrations are governed by an unsymmetric eigenproblem the modified AMLS method needs approximately the same computational effort. An error bound related to the eigenvalue approximations is proved.

Presenting a Modified SPH Algorithm for Numerical Studies of Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems
A modified Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is proposed for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems especially, in cases which FSI is combined with solid-rigid contacts. In current work, the modification of the utilized SPH concerns on removing the artificial viscosities and the artificial stresses (which such terms are commonly used to eliminate the effects of tensile and numeri...
متن کاملPreconditioning Subspace Iteration for Large Eigenvalue Problems with Automated Multi-Level Sub-structuring
The subspace iteration method (SIM) is a numerical procedure for normal mode analysis which has shown to be robust and reliable for solving very large general eigenvalue problems. Although its classical form as introduced by Bathe in the seventies of the last century is less efficient than the Lanczos iteration method in terms of CPU time, it is beneficial in terms of storage use if a very larg...
متن کاملAutomated Multi-Level Substructuring for nonlinear eigenproblems
In this paper we generalize the automated multi–level substructuring method to certain classes of nonlinear eigenvalue problems which can be partitioned into an essential linear and positive definite pencil and a small residual. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated by numerical examples modeling damped vibrations of a structure with nonproportional damping, a gyroscopic eigenproblem, an...
متن کاملOn a Non-Symmetric Eigenvalue Problem Governing Interior Structural–Acoustic Vibrations
Small amplitude vibrations of a structure completely filled with a fluid are considered. Describing the structure by displacements and the fluid by its pressure field, the free vibrations are governed by a non-self-adjoint eigenvalue problem. This survey reports on a framework for taking advantage of the structure of the non-symmetric eigenvalue problem allowing for a variational characterizati...
متن کاملA High Performance Computing Approach to the Simulation of Fluid-solid Interaction Problems with Rigid and Flexible Components
This work outlines a unified multi-threaded, multi-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) approach for the direct numerical simulation of Fluid-Solid Interaction (FSI) problems. The simulation algorithm relies on the extended Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (XSPH) method, which approaches the fluid flow in a Lagrangian framework consistent with the Lagrangian tracking of the solid phase. A gene...
